Dr. Marian Bensema

Dr. Marian Bensema has been a member of the Pathology & Cytology Laboratories group since 1988.  Since Dr. Bensema received her undergraduate degree in medical technology and worked as a medical technologist for several years prior  to entering medical school, she has a special interest in clinical pathology.  As medical director for the clinical laboratories at Central Baptist Hospital and Shriner's Hospital, she devotes a significant amount of time to oversight and consultation in these laboratories.  She is also active in all areas of anatomic pathology, predominately surgical pathology, with special interest in GYN, breast and hematopathology.

Dr. Bensema serves as chairman of the blood utilization committee, vice chairman of the Institutional Research Board, and as a member of the infection control and medical executive committees for Central Baptist Hospital.  She is also a member of the infection control committee at Shriner's Hospital.

Dr Bensema is a native Kentuckian, who grew up in a small town in Nelson County.  When out of the office, she enjoys gardening, playing piano, traveling and playing golf.  She and her husband, Dave, have two grown sons and a daughter-in-law.
