Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology

Oral and maxillofacial pathology is the specialty of dentistry and pathology which deals with the nature, identification, and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions. It is a science that investigates the causes, processes and effects of these diseases. The practice of oral and maxillofacial pathology includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations, and management of patients. Oral pathologists are dentists who have completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial pathology.

Since 2018, Pathology and Cytology Laboratories has offered oral pathology services with national coverage that includes contributors from coast to coast. Douglas D Damm DDS, Craig B. Fowler DDS, Molly H. Smith DMD, and Stephanie Wetzel DDS provide this valuable specialty service. All of our oral pathologists are Diplomates of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and worked in large oral pathology services prior to joining our team. We have an excellent team of pathologists, histotechnicians, laboratory technicians, and office staff who provide quality diagnostic services, which include routine histology, immunohistochemical studies, and direct immunofluorescence (DIF). Our billing department works with many insurance companies across the country to minimize the financial burden to our patients.

Our lab provides two-day shipping and free biopsy containers. The biopsy reports are available via fax or our electronic portal system in a timely manner.
